  1. Yes heating seems to work fine, because house was warm this morning. When I put the stats up this happens so I presume it's just the water. So far tried two engineers and no one can come out before Xmas, unfortunately getting anyone in our area with HP knowledge is difficult and hell (or our house!) would freeze before I'd let the plumber back who did the plumbing and installation (signed off by Alto who are helpfully only open M-F). Actually scrap that no heating either lights turn on but ASHP isn't working outside. Brilliant no heating or hot water. VID_20221217_103151.mp4
  2. Ok here is what I've found on video - are these red lights normal? Taped things, turned power back on and water on and pump initially came on then went off so for some reason we can't get the ASHP to do water. Pic afterwards. VID_20221217_101111.mp4
  3. Thanks for this. Right that's the next step then.
  4. Thanks I tested those and the water pump comes on, albeit only briefly then off again. Others seem to be fine too. VID_20221217_095143.mp4
  5. When I go to turn the hot water on, everything lights up and sort of kicks in briefly then goes off! Can't even get an engineer either.
  6. Can't see anything in the manual. I've found the flow thingy but no idea what else I should be looking at.
  7. I think the heating is working but I'm not sure the hot water is. Any idiot proof guidance to try and solve this please?
  8. Can anyone help. There is an error showing on our heat pump control.
  9. Hopefully not, though it is half term week so the canal is full of idiots hiring boats.
  10. Fence posts done over the weekend! We got them from Kedel with a pointed end and round flat top 1.5m in length and almost half of them buried with sheer force knocking them in. I ended up driving to them to check out their products and discussing exactly what I wanted and they drilled them 20mm hole for the rope (extra cost) then I got a man and van a couple of weeks later to pick them up (their delivery fee is a rip off). They were about £13 each including the drilled hole. Got some rope from Facebook (someone bought 32m from Rope Services) and we got it very cheap. It's about 30 metres in length. Ignore the paving as we will be redoing it. Had to lay some turf where I got up some of the paving flags. . VID_20221023_172932.mp4 VID_20221023_171947.mp4
  11. Great thanks I'll stick with the ASHP. I never quite knew what that button did on the Solic as we have never used it! In summer the tank was always pushed up to about 57 degrees with no ASHP from the solar alone. @Conor you have your ASHP water temp a few degrees lower than our 48 degrees but we only have it scheduled to turn on with the ASHP during the 5.5p Octopus Go rate. May have to change that once our Octopus Go rate expires in March - no idea what that will rise to then, but at least we have cheaper rates than most to see us through our heating and hot water for the majority of winter.
  12. This may be a silly question - bear with. Until a couple of days ago our solar has been doing our hot water, diverting an excess to the tank but we were finding it wasn't quite hot enough and not reaching the temperature we like. It is programmed in on the ASHP to 48 degrees but the heating and hot water on the ASHP has been off for 4 months completely. So hot water is back on the ASHP trips in at 8:30pn during our Octopus Go rate and heats it up to 48 degrees if the solar hasn't diverted enough. On the Solic I notice a button where you can boost it for 90 mins. I guess means it will be like switching on an immersion. So is this powered by the ASHP too? In essence what I'm asking is if it's better to let the ASHP heat the hot water or press the boost on the Solic which is the immersion - or is it the same? Am I overthinking this?
  13. There is always motorway barriers! See if you can find my thread . . . We used 90 metres of them!
  14. We are really after some patio inspiration. We have been saving and are in a position where we should have enough money for the porcelain and materials and we have found someone who will lay it too and do any brick work and can work with my dad to prepare the ground etc. So here is a little video .... VID_20220814_204323.mp4 Now we love the idea of some kind of rendered brick planters around the patio like these - ignoring the steps (pinched from a random Facebook page). Our neighbour is a plasterer and has said he can render anything the same as the house. The issue is what to do with the left and right as we would love to have the patio enclosed but on the left the downspout is in the way and on both sides it wouldn't be wide enough for wall planters to be attached - and with the EWI I'm a bit apprehensive on anything fixed to the house. The patio needs building up as we have a drop at the moment and the grass area would likely be level as the ground needs raising in parts as it's all uneven and messy. Ideally we would like some kind of path then leading to the old septic tank paved area which we will extend and repave in porcelain and have some kind of pergola area. So, inspire me please! Any other ideas or suggestions?
  15. Yes very much so, it is sheltered ans surrounded by trees. We compared a few and I believe Lifetime is better than Keter. It's this one https://www.wayfair.co.uk/garden/pdp/lifetime-7-ft-w-x-7-ft-d-garage-shed-liie1108.html We paid £382 as it was an error price but fought to get it honoured. It is surprising rigid and we are lining the floor with some 10mm ply we have left over so it won't be going anywhere. The amount of bolts and screws it has in it should keep it together!
  16. We have spent the last week making up this plastic shed from Lifetime (like the worst version of IKEA). We have built it up onto a concrete base. There are options in each of the four corners inside to pop out a plastic circle and fix into the concrete pad. Probably wise but no fixings were included and I'm unsure what to use. Can anyone suggest anything please from Screwfix/Toolstation so I can get it bolted down. Thank you!
  17. I think we would have to leave a complete gap for where we moor with no posts or rope as it makes it easier to access the piling as we chain the boat against it either end.
  18. Ooh I didn't spot these on Kedel. This could work well if we can drill through them and thread rope and very cheap too and no maintenance. Hmmm, definitely worth considering.
  19. We aren't towpath side so they would struggle unless they were hanging off them and pulled them in when they get stuck in our garden. An idea worth considering though! All the boats should have poles so why they can't just push themselves off is beyond me rather than jumping off into our garden and then getting stuck when they can't get back on the boat! Some idiot ripped off our duck ramp a few weeks ago (hire boat). The marina from the hire boat company replaced it though and made us a much nicer one just in time for the ducklings.
  20. Cheers I've messaged them too. Re fixing, digging near the edge is fine but we are removing the hard standing flags as they have all lifted up and will probably just keep it grass I think. Hammer them into ground, could put a bit of concrete in if needed I guess.
  21. We can't actually drill or fix anything into the piling as that's CRT property and they can be a bit funny with stuff attached on it.
  22. I think this is the cheapest alternative to the website ones but if we can find something not wood that would make me happier!
  23. Thank you, this may be an option. Last year we fitted 90 metres of retaining wall with motorway crash barriers so who knows road signs may work!
  24. We aren't keeping the slabs and I think they are a bit ugly to be honest!
  25. Thanks I've messaged them to get details and prices.
