  9. Hi Dave , we had building control out and are in the process of getting a few things sorted including a certificate for the mvhr which I self installed so congratulations on a massive step forward we haven’t done anything about the vat as I thought you needed the compleat certificate before you could claim the vat
  10. No idea of your build details but this might be a option https://www.ecomerchant.co.uk/news/paint-on-airtightness-really-are-you-kidding/

  12. Hi it’s a standard (Toby ) that’s what it’s called in the west of Scotland, if you have a standard water key it will fit on to the flat bit which you need to turn a quarter turn, if you look just now the flat bit is in line with the pipe below turn it a quarter turn so it is across the pipe it usually doesn’t mater if you turn left or right but turn it clockwise , some time they are very tight but it will go.
  13. Thanks to all, I will also incorporate some sort of safety device to avoid potential problems !

  16. Hi we had to get a company in that located the main sewer it was supposed to run along the edge of the pavement according to Scottish water but was one meter into the road,it cost around £400 they opened up a man hole cover and had a massive coil in the back of the van with a transmitter of some type that could be picked up by a cat type tool
  17. Hi not sure about flow and pressure as a friend who worked for Scottish water did our application if it is made up ground both Scottish water and building control insist on using a barrier pipe i tried to post the link but not good on computer but if you google the heading below you will see the pipe with a red marker line to identify it. Adam POLYGUARD MDPE BARRIER PIPE
  18. Hi we are on the final stage of a Scotframe build The 2 points above are very relevant we extensively modified a existing kit the kit itself was extremely well made and we also ordered all windows and doors through them as stated above the vat has to be paid upfront so that is a big consideration the communication from scotframe pre delivery was very poor but after the kit is delivered we had a scotframe project manager for any issues or queries (Jamie ) who was excellent to deal with its a a very good product, but I would look for a kit manufacturer that will supply and erect the kit saving the vat and provide a better service to the average self builder adam

  20. Hi it was made by celotex among others usually 12mm thick it’s like fibre board with tar mixed through it Marley contract services used it on all the large sites in Scotland in the 1990 ‘s as a replacement for sarking boards if you google (Wood Fibre Insulation Sarking Boards ) you can still get some results but it is a very poor replacement for traditional sarking boards or osb sheets adam
