Cutting Nudura at angles
ChrisJ replied to WiltshireLink's topic in Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF)
As a regular user of Nudura, what I love best about the block, build the blocks together on the floor, they all lock together, then lay it on it's side, flat on the floor. make sure to oversize it Once laid on the floor, use your truss drawings and layout the cut lines on the block, verify you have done it correctly, the heel height, the peak, double/triple check it all, now you can cut the block, flip it over on the floor, transfer all measurements and cut the other side Depending on the size of your gable you may (with the help of 1-2 people) lift the gable end up on top of the wall and snap it into place, if its to big you might need to dissemble some of it to get it up -
Defeating the purpose/point of ICF, just cut the services into the ICF, plasterboard directly onto the ICF for the ceiling, I would use resilient channel, only because wood is typically a mess and RC allows the plasterboard to ‘float’ flat

As pointed out the time savings is huge, you can set the initial bracket typically at 1.2m o.c. So at £20 per kit it’s not bad, when the ledger board is in place you don’t have to add solid blocking around the perimeter which is a huge time savings

Your EPS must have been extremely clean and no UV damage- which literally happens within days at this time of year

I use Nudura primer for their peel & stick membrane very successfully and without trying it, it should work without issue on any similar type products on polystyrene

Recommendation/support for build system
ChrisJ replied to matt58k's topic in Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF)
Nothing wrong with any of the mentioned ICF systems, look at who your buying from and what on site support they offer if DIY’ing or if hiring an installer ask him what system he is familiar with and what he prefers to install some products have products available that help you build with various accessories and others just have block and nothing more - for a DIY you want support and a vast array of products -
If your floor system is 600mm c-c then wall framing can match and you can align everything - even/equal and proper distribution of loading - essentially you are able to point load the entire structure top to bottom - the better building practice plus anything your chasing through the walls such has MVHR and plumbing have clear run top to bottom - no zigzags to contend with

Took me a while to get one ready but that is the butterfly to seal the pinhole corner in the window flashing from cuts and folds - you should also caulk (not silicone) the seams

Insulhub Isotex Voluntary Liquidation
ChrisJ replied to Surfiejim's topic in Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF)
Canadian here, recently moved to the UK so don’t know the laws here do you have a legal term called - misappropriation of funds? ask a lawyer - basically your funds have been used in the old saying - robbing Peter to pay Paul - and the owner/president/managing partner/CEO/CFO etc etc etc is held personally liable for - as it says - misappropriation of funds you can upset the apple cart on these people if this exists here, forensic audit and if they see the big wigs used deposits or moneys paid for personal gain (beyond a reasonable salary) it pinches the vail of the LTD company and they are on the hook -

How much rebar in a Nudura building?
ChrisJ replied to Andrewb's topic in Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF)
Nudura install manual calls for both horizontal and vertical rebar in all their products. Your engineer can override the manufacturer for project specific engineering - many engineers do not require any rebar in England other than lintels, do I agree? Well that’s another topic but who am I to argue with an engineer -
Under Floor Vents for Block and Beam through ICF
ChrisJ replied to Dean Mc's topic in Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF)
Too late for you now, but the off cuts from your block, you can cut and insert into the top of the vent to prevent crushing during the placement of concrete -
Be about 10 days and I’ll be on a project with some peel & stick and send a pic remind me tho

I’ll have to show you the butterfly for the cill corners - can I take a Guinness instead of the Nobel prize
-
I’ve done both, similar products and they work just fine, waterproofing and having some slope are important
-
Yea I heard a few people got stuck when they went into receivership unfortunately. Stocking distributors is very important and people on the ground to assist when needed for advice
-
Any ICF is a great choice, things to be mindful of if doing it yourself is support - whether the supplier or a local installer is available to review and give advice when needed
