More pointing .......... The (tiled) floor one end of the room I'm in (loop 1) is 17.8, the middle loop (loop 2) is 17.0 and the other end (loop 3) is 16.7. Room TS says 17.7 and it's set to get to 20. Next door (the room where the heating isn't connected up as yet) it's 11.6.

The solar was installed by solar man so one hopes it was done correctly. We got a grant from the Energy Saving Trust for the solar. The grant was £2353.50. Guess what solar man charged to install it (he only installed the solar bits, not the TS, boiler etc), yep £2353.50. I don't know if that's usual. I thought it was a lot given that we bought all the kit. He's the one who won't come out and sort the solar as 'he doesn't install those now' and more or less told me it had died and gone to heaven.

Don't think I can get to them. The loft hatch is one side of the house and the solar panels the other, and there is no way I'm going up in the loft I'm afraid! I is a wimp in that scenario!!

It's not set up. Terry imported it from Australia (don't ask how much that cost to ship and customs!) it was fork lifted into the garage and it's been there ever since. It took an age to come on a boat and then it arrived and he was too sick to to anything with it.

I take back everything I said about Royal Mail . It's here so let the pointing commence ........ So the pumps ....... The green down one is 43 The green up one I burnt my hand on is 98 (maybe I is not such a wimp ) The silver upside down one is 63.

@PeterW here are the Heatmiser photos. It’s manifold 3 upstairs, only so I don’t have to crawl round in a cupboard downstairs. I can do if you need a downstairs photo though.

I assume you mean point it at the roof? It would have to be some bit of kit to have that range surely? And wouldn't the DeltaSol thing tell me the temperature anyway? It said 7 degrees when I got up. now 10 degrees. It's sunny out (but cold) so should get hotter later. I'm not sure whether the thermometer will arrive today. They've sent it by Royal Mail who are unreliable here and won't leave anything if I'm out, and I need to go out later. This is when Amazon Prime doesn't rock. If it's sent DPD they are excellent and know where to leave stuff. Unfortunately you can't dictate the carrier.

I very much doubt it! Hubby was the infrastructure addict, I like to switch something on and it works! There is a legacy of crap here. Like spaghetti junction of wires in a cupboard. And this bloody thing taking up half the garage. WTF!
-
Wow, that’s awesome! How on earth was the spec done in the first place I wonder? They knew what boiler / tariff / solar we were having.
-
Ah ok. Will sort tomorrow.

Yeah, will do so tomorrow assuming one of the 51 new screwdrivers fits I’ll not electrocute myself I assume? I didn’t need to unscrew the immersion cover as I keep it unscrewed as it was a pain in the arse keep having to take it off when the bloody thing tripped out. The last boiler fixer (not cock job) said that he reset the temps to stop it tripping out. I’ve not used it since so can’t say whether it’s working better.

Doesn’t it need to heat up a great wad of water in the TS hence the time it takes?
-
It’s just a back up if the boiler is fecked. It’s switched off. I have used it in the past. It takes about 3 hours to heat up hot enough water to shower.

I only have it on for about 8 hours a day in truth. Today was an exception as I was checking a few things. In all that time tho the UFH in the room where it is working only raised 2 degrees. Means that’s fecked too?

I don’t do infrastructure! Used to do software development, and now I’m just a bossy cow

@MikeSharp01 Here you go . Taken just now. And the 3rd photo is for @SteamyTea . Bet you put milk in yours!

The tea is very good up here! Can't beat a nice cup of earl grey.

Dead stable. Boiler at 65 - TS dead stable at 45, boiler at 70 - TS dead stable at 50, and boiler at 75 - TS dead stable at 54. I left the boiler on all day today to check and it's been at 54 the whole day.

Thank you. I suspect that my hubby just assumed that we'd need something to treat the water. Having lived in Kent with hard water, scale in kettles, limescale on tiles etc I can see why he thought installing one might be a good idea, but the water is just very soft here.

@JSHarris I found the instructions for that softener thing. Any advice please? I’m not sure if I even need it the thing as It’s been switched off, and when I got a new dishwasher recently the water hardness test strip it arrived with didn’t even register the slightest hardness.

A wee update on today’s heating trials and tribulations. First thing this morning, with a single room stat on downstairs and the 3 cylinder stats all set to 70 both manifolds upstairs were warm (they were cold yesterday when the cylinder stats were turned right down and every room stat was turned off). One was at 20 degrees and the other 30. On the basis that they were warm anyway I turned on the room stats in 2 of the bedrooms (one from each manifold) to see if the heating works at all upstairs. I’ve just gone up to check some 10 hours later and both rooms have only risen by 1 degree which I imagine could be explained by the ambient temperature. So all heating upstairs is fecked I think. Lucky I have a leccy blanket! With the boiler at 65 the TS was only getting to 45 so I turned it up to 70 and it went to 50. Now with the boiler at 75 the TS has made it to 54. The hot water for showers is better at 60 from experience but I guess I’d have to have the boiler at about 80-90 for that so I’ll leave it be for now. I think it’s harsh to blame one cock for all of the issues as there have been a number of cocks here fiddling with things but CTS installer is probably chief cock because he fecked up more than most. Most of the others just fiddled with what was there. Tomorrow when the thermometer hopefully arrives (thanks @Ferdinand) I can report temps of pumps etc. without burning my hand! New screwdrivers arrived (Amazon Prime rocks) and a T20 was perfect for removing the boxing over the meters. Here they are in all their glory! @Nickfromwales should the 4 red thingies still be set to max?

Cheers, have ordered!
