  1. But borrowed from whom? Marvin are you suggesting there are some higher entities above governments that lend us money? Otherwise we would borrow from ourselves, no?
  2. This is what is in the email £16.85 = 4.75%. This is by how much the prices are GOING DOWN. It's a joke or they just test how stupid people are. If this kind of announcements make people happier I don't know what to think. It's one of the cheapest ways of making people happy for the next 6 months I have seen. I forgot such thing is called PROPAGANDA. I could save a bit more between 10-12% if I use one of their fixed tariffs 13, 25 months ones but this discount is so they harvest my data and I have to pay them by Direct Debit. To me this 10% is peanuts and I am thinking of getting rid of the smart meter anyway because it interferes with my music equipment. High standing charges is an obvious incentive to people who have some money reserves to burn 20k and go off-grid. This is how I see it.
  3. when I hear such people telling me they are protecting me it's time to run.
  4. the whole thing was and it still is rigged. What was prior to Ofgem's increased interventionism was in fact a fake open market / capitalism. The other thing to explain is why they don't subsidise gas but electricity knowing most people are on gas? No point switching to other providers to save £7 or to a fixed tariff to save £16. They could simply create one state electricity and gas provider and call it BSRR Power or Ofgem rather than run this pretend market. Same with the banking but it will come to that everyone will have a slave bank account with BoE directly.
  5. Does it mean you do it yourself then contact BCO? Do you mean the local fitters are not good enough. I mean I contact those that have reviews 4.6+
  6. Hi All, Can someone explain to me this Soviet-era Ofgem energy capping? This Ofgem scam is getting funnier every year. "Important information about your energy tariff. Good news - energy prices are going down. Ofgem has announced that energy rates will be going down again this autumn. The good news is that from 1st October 2023 you’ll be paying less for your energy." The annual costs GO DOWN by about £16 !!!! It's not even worth to change to their fixed rates that require smart meters. Do you bother? This information is as worth as a spam email. They want people on their toes all the time waiting what Bank Of England is going to announce re the interest rates (now it's like twice a month) and what Ofgem is going to announce re energy prices. Wonder why the people with pitchforks and torches are not yet assembling. Actually I know why people don't have pitchforks and torches. I think time to make some.
  7. In that case what is the recommendation. This has to be fitted in by an installer otherwise there is no paperwork. What % is the labour of the overall project? I got a rough quote to replace door to the backyard (standard door 870mm W x 2070mm H) and one window (972mm W x 990mm H) £2000 I asked all PVC and triple glazed.
  8. by the way what do you think about 3M Claw? There are 20kg rated ones.
  9. I found this video. These picture hooks make the most sense as it keeps the load away from the screw itself.
  10. This is the mirror. I don't know the exact weight but I think it's around 10kg? It has these string hangers on both sides, nothing more.
  11. Hi All, I hope you are well. I have a big framed mirror I want to hang on the wall but this is a plasterboard. The mirror is about 44" x 34". What should I use so it has enough support? Thank you
  12. Hi again, I have these threshold trims cut. Can someone tell me how can I attach them?
  13. I do use the adhesive fly traps and these are successful for small size flies but these don't catch the big ones or wasps. I have a garden with flowering hedges on both sides and on top of flies I would not want some bumblebees, bees or wasps coming in. I don't kill them but then I have to help them get out. They simply don't understand that window glass is an impenetrable barrier for them but they keep trying. I found the fly mesh to be very good to keep the flying insects outside however the cheap mesh on eBay is temporary, don't last more than one or two seasons tops.
  14. Hi All, I hope you are doing well. Someone has pointed me out to these fly screen door solutions. https://www.streme.co.uk/shop/fly-screens/for-your-home/for-doors?page=1 https://www.noflystore.co.uk/hinged-fly-screens/ https://www.flyscreenqueen.co.uk/flyscreen-doors/aluminium-hinged-self-closi/ Have you tried any of them? Can anyone provide some feedback? While I replace my PCV doors I can see that with NoFlyStore doors I have to provide a sufficient recess for the fly door frame to go in. Thanks
  15. Have you come across any hinges that could be added / mounted to the door frame so such fly/mosquito screen doors can be installed rather than adding them post door installation?
  16. Hi All, I hope you are well. This thread is only to make some of you aware about the differences in tiles. Both are 9.5mm thick tiles. Even that those tiles I bought from Topps Tiles are more expensive (30% more expensive) I think they are worse overall comparing to the ones I got from Wickes. I can sense that these Topps Tiles tiles made in India are more fragile. Secondly the back of the tiles is pretty much flat providing no key for the adhesive while tiles from Wickes (made in Vietnam) have a very coarse pattern that provides an excellent grip. Let me know what you think.
  17. Hi All, I have some bigger items to dispose. 1. old CRT monitor 2. old washing machine - it pretty much rotted out 3. old toilet and other bathroom ceramics I was thinking to cut this old washing machine to pieces and put it in general waste. There is no drum just the shell. Why do some arseholes dump building waste including floor panels and ceramics in my nearby forest? Why don't they take it to the local council waste disposal? Thanks
  18. I have installed the tiles around the window however because these trims don't have long enough anchor I was not able to just attach them with tile adhesive. It would be too messy anyway. What is the best to attach these trims? Should I use silicone?
  19. Hi, I have a bathroom tub that sits on its legs but also on wooden support. How can I cover it? I don't want to tile around it. Thanks
  20. I have these EUR pallets already so I will need to improvise. I could put the 2nd pallet in vertical orientation to get to 2.4m however with the concrete blocks underneath I will be well over 2.5m limit. My structure is above ground.
  21. How do you think I should achieve this 26cm height extension so it is viable? Probably the roof will end up flatter so I can fit everything under 2.5m.
  22. This is the design of the shed based on the EU pallets. There will be EU pallets supporting the structure and the empty spaces I will have to fill in with some lighter pallets and cut to size. It has been adjusted to the PCV windows and doors I have. Same with the garden office where I have double doors and a wider PVC window. The size is the same as the shed.
  23. thanks for pointing this out because if I don't know this stuff then I have to look at these trims as you said. By the way what glass filters do you recommend? Should I just go clear glass? Also are there any like fly/mosquito screen doors system like they have in US? I reckon the hinges would be together with the main door frame.
  24. Hi All, Are there any leak detection systems for domestic use? I reckon some humidity sensors would make the most sense. I reckon to install them under the floor where all the pipes go to get notified as soon as possible. It can probably take hours before the humidity changes in the room which is already too late - destroyed floor. Thanks
  25. Should I drill through the window frame or try to go around the frame through the wall?
