Backyard doors - all glass double or triple glazed?
JohnBishop replied to JohnBishop's topic in Doors & Door Frames
Why? Bad experience? I could try to fit a window myself but not the doors. Too heavy. -
Backyard doors - all glass double or triple glazed?
JohnBishop replied to JohnBishop's topic in Doors & Door Frames
This would be standard swinging doors. Is there any brand in particular you would recommend? Should I order them myself and arrange the installers separately or just let the deal with it? I reckon the installers have their suppliers. -
Backyard doors - all glass double or triple glazed?

Right Should I just search for any double glaze doors or are there any other things I should pay attention too? I understand in the UK there is several factories that make UPVC windows/doors on order for some local window installers but from factory to factory there isn't much difference. Or should I pay attention to some brands? -
Backyard doors - all glass double or triple glazed?

ok thank you what about single large or two smaller glass panels? Do glass in such doors crack frequently? I reckon more often in doors than windows. If two panels then less glass to replace. -
These spiders come from the house don't let any more spiders in.

Backyard doors - all glass double or triple glazed?

what coatings do you mean? There is insulation on the outside. What about the glass. Does it make a difference if I go for 2 sections rather than a single large piece? -
Hi All, I have this old air brick for the old gas heater in the living room but this has been replaced with a 5kW stove and I don't need this airbrick anymore. There is insulation around this ventilation grate. How should I remove it not to destroy the whole think? Use the oscillating saw?

Backyard doors - all glass double or triple glazed?
JohnBishop posted a topic in Doors & Door Frames
Hi All, I am going to replace old wooden doors to my backyard and I was wondering if I should go for double or triple glazed does it really make a difference. I reckon triple would make these doors pretty heavy. The existing doors are W 80 x H 192cm. What would you suggest I should pay attention to? Thank you -
Hi All, I was wondering if these things can this be fixed? This seal is now broken and lets in a lot of draft into the house. Best regards

Hi All, I hope you are doing well. I want to install 2 PoE cameras front and back of the house. I have two small PVC windows and I want to screw the cameras into the plastic thing under the roof. How should I drill a hole to run the Ethernet? Through the window frame or at an angle through the wall on both sides? Please advise. Best regards

A tile trim with an overlap?
JohnBishop replied to JohnBishop's topic in Electrics - Kitchen & Bathroom
I have found a similar one at B&Q for about 20 quid. This transition trim is the only one I found that makes sense in this application. -
A tile trim with an overlap?

I have been at Wicks and Topps Tiles and they pretty much have the same selection of trims and nothing to do what I want to do. I will check at B&Q. -
A tile trim with an overlap?
JohnBishop replied to JohnBishop's topic in Electrics - Kitchen & Bathroom
I have checked and these ones are either 14mm or 25mm. My tiles are 9.5mm thick so I think the only that would match is Genesis one which is 10mm. It's definitely a stair tile trim not transition trim. I have not come across any more stair trims that the one you have shared so I think I order this one. It's out of stock in many stores. -
A tile trim with an overlap?
JohnBishop replied to JohnBishop's topic in Electrics - Kitchen & Bathroom
I have searched extensively hoping that these T trims are common but they don't. All T shaped trims are mainly for transition only and the one you found is for steps but I have not found any more than these Genesis ones. -
A tile trim with an overlap?

I don't think I can get T shaped one anywhere but online. I checked at Wickes, Topps Tiles and B&Q online but I don't see any T shaped ones. -
A tile trim with an overlap?
JohnBishop replied to JohnBishop's topic in Electrics - Kitchen & Bathroom
That was easy. LOL Indeed it's a T shape. It looks like I wasn't good at school, I managed to learn the alphabet up to L but not up to T. -
Hi All, I hope you are doing well. I have bought these L shaped trims however I see around the window that my tiles are not exactly flush and I don't have extra lip to compensate for surface undulation. Is there a trim that can cover these imperfections? e.g. rather than this: ___| something like this: ___| |

I think I order some 50mm Celotex over summer. What is the best way to cut it to size without destroying the edges?
-
ok, what else I see is this Mapei Standard Set Plus Ceramic & Porcelain Tile Adhesive Grey 10kg which dries for 24h but it's almost twice as expensive as Fast Set.
-
ok, I got SBR onto the floorboards. I see there is this Mapei Fast Set and Rapidset at Wickes. Fast Set says "Pot life 20 mins, open time 10 mins" but this is pretty much the same as rapidset. Rapidset does not say on the description how long you can work with it but it's also 20 minutes from what I tested. In the house the temperatures are still around 19-20 in the house and there is no . This is ridiculous to work with. Is there any slower adhesive? There is no way to do 2/3 of a medium sized bucket (black bucket) before it sets. It's not DYI friendly at all.
-
I know but this is too expensive to fit a fancy device on every window. I don't think I need it on every window in the house. Maybe I leave one or 2 on each floor but I don't need like 10 of them. Besides probably the screw holes do not line up and I will have to drill two more holes and it will look bad. I want to fill the void with something then duct and aluminium tape and screw these plastics back on. as I said I had them all blocked over the winter and no mould or humidity over 52%. There are vents in the bathroom, a big one in the kitchen and a fire stove that most likely circulates all the air from downstairs.
-
I have removed the plastic covers from the outside. Can I simply fill the holes with expanding foam? Then I wanted to simply cover it with two layers duct tape and aluminium tape on top.

is the red Evostik PVA good to use onto the plywood before I apply the tile adhesive? I also add the white Evostik Primer to the adhesive to improve its qualities.
-
I have secured the underlying floorboards and decided to put down and screw these 5mm plywood boards. Now I have these items: 1. STS screws and washers 2. STS 10mm insulation boards 3. EVO-STIK 1L Flexibond Tile Adhesive Primer Can anyone tell me what should I do next? Should I paint the Evostik on both sides of the STS and glue the STS boards to ply then screw them in. Then I think I am ready to start tiling.
-
I bought some 5mm ply wood boards. Would this work in combination with STS? If so how can I join all together? 1. floorboards 2. ply + screws 3. flexi adhesive 4. STS tile backer board + screws and washers 5. flexi adhesive 6. tiles I have this EVOSTICK primer. In this scenario should I paint it over the floorboards or the plywood. I think it makes more sense to screw ply and STS together, right?
