Hi All, I hope you are doing well. I have a front yard fence with short concrete posts. Should I get someone so pressure wash it or should I wire brush it then paint it or sand the surface with flex grinder? Flex grinder cleaning is what I saw on the Internet. Please advise Thank you Best regards

I don't know yet but I don't think I will be insulating the floor or walls. I mean I can put DPM on the paving slabs then the pallets and wrap around. Are the rats going to go through DPM? So far I haven't come across any rats but at least 3 cats.

Floor and walls. I have EUR pallets with 22mm planks, very strong.

if I use paving slabs do they have to cover the whole area of the shed or just provide support for the pallets? I understand I should wrap the pallets from underneath with DPM.

Hi All, I am preparing to build a shed from EUR pallets. These are very strong with 22mm planks. I want to put anti-weed membrane on the ground then concrete blocks. What concrete blocks should I use that will last? Please advise. Best regards

I had a bit of thinking and making and installing those drawers is a job for a pro especially if this is done between two solid walls so I am going to look into converting the stairs into cupboard units instead - a lot simpler. I think lower steps will have doors on the side and upper steps will become a door in itself so items can be put from above. Not sure if you have ever come across such solution.

In my case is a bit tricky because I have solid walls on both sides so I need to install these shallow and long drawers not on the side. But this space just begs to be used. This is a decent engineering project for a novice.

I checked on another thread and it looks like in my case Celotex is not a good idea. Someone said that 30mm Celotex is the minimum so together with a required plywood, fibreboard and laminate would end up to 83mm. I don't have enough space under the front door so I cannot put it in there. This would require too many modifications. I think I just use QuickStep or Multifoil and put laminate on top.

That is actually quite cool. The rest of the empty space behind the VCR is stuffed with secret tapes I reckon.

You bet it's not a space saver 😂 unless someone is into domestic tombs or bunkers.

Does it look better now? Unfortunately I haven't found any precious items, dead bodies or mummies. Just a big Black Spider of The Tomb. Now I have on sale solid prefabricated corners and walls. Let me know if interested.

Hi All, Have you seen any interesting conversions to make use of the empty space under the ground floor stairs? I have two walls in between the stairs. There is no access at the back as that space is used by the fridge but I was thinking about converting the remaining space under the stairs into some storage for shoes but also for some long storage of food e.g. jars. The stairs are immediately at the front doors so it makes sense to use it for shoes but there is plenty of space for other stuff. I think this would be like secret doors at every step but then each step would have to have its own support. What do you think? Have you seen it anywhere?

I decided to put 25mm Celotex on the floor. Does £187 for 11x Celotex TB4025 Insulation Board 25mm x 1200mm x 2400mm + £60 shipping sounds reasonable? I need to cover about 28sqm. Hi All, I keep wondering what is the purpose of this pedestal. It's in the living room next to the old fireplace but this was replaced with a gas heater I believe decades ago. Is this some sort of stand? There is nothing above it.

Do you mean some cheap XPS foam, all taped together then 5mm wood fibre and laminate? Would you recommend anyone in particular or is it does not really matter? I have searched for some but only found a more decent selection on Amazon which I try to avoid. I have 25-32mm space before I have to cut the doors but the problem becomes the PVC front doors in the little landing that I won't be able to cut.

Ok, I have checked the moisture under polythene some time ago and there is no condensation so the original DPM seems to work. I also don't see any humidity fluctuations in the room in the summer or in autumn. I just removed the skirting boards. Does it look like DPM to you? Do you think if I put another DPN on top is this going to be detrimental to what's below?

What XPS should I go for? I am having difficulty finding it. I need it for about 30sqm. I unscrew the wide skirting boards and attach the DPM to the wall then screw the boards back.
