Scottlchipsandpeas Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Hi I have a self build timber frame 1st floor bedroom extension, sat on a steel ring beam. Looking at the render finish now and trying to get a feel for the carrier boards and in particular the jointing of them. Should tape and joint compound be used or not for domestic property's or will the base coat and mesh suffice when using parex tended system?
Nickfromwales Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Hi and welcome to the forum. The manufacturers instructions should give you the correct guidelines, and they will need to be ( ahem ) adhered to to ensure you have a warranty against product failure. If the boarding is good enough, usually the mesh will be more than suffice and will be better than the tape anyway, but its the MI's that count so go read up on those first .
Scottlchipsandpeas Posted June 3, 2019 Author Posted June 3, 2019 Built small in a factory off site, flat packed then craned on.
Scottlchipsandpeas Posted June 3, 2019 Author Posted June 3, 2019 I did this myself, trying to save ££££, a mix between stick frame and SIPS. Thanks. 1
