Sunken Bath

Recommended Posts

Anybody any experience with installing a sunken or semi sunken bath?

Considering a partially sunken one in our ensuite, not by much, maybe 300mm.

Are there any obvious considerations or issues with this? Building control regs? Will be on first floor... Concrete floors but would build up that part in timber. Boot room below and we've 2700mm ceilings so not concerned about losing head height.

Sorry, forgot to say the bath is under a sloping ceiling, part of the reason of having it sunken, we can move it a bit further under the eaves, freeing up a bit more space for he shower area.

Yep, been there, done that! The floor of my bath is level with the tiled floor in the rest of the bathroom.

The pir is directly under this red Poly Pipe panel. I've 150mm pir total. 50mm sitting on top of 100mm.

Marine ply tray set into the pir by cutting the Poly Pipe tray and removing the 50mm layer. So my bath has 100mm PIR underneath.

Slot cut for 50mm waste too:

Trap access - should have made a bit easier tbh but didn't account for all the 20mm conduits in there for the lights:

Thats roughly what I was thinking. Bring the concrete floor over to the wet area, shutter it off and then build a frame to take the bath and shower area. Build the frame for the bath then screed rest of the area around it with a fall for the shower. Very helpful.
