Ferdinand
A very quick sanity check on a couple of things that may need PP / Building Regs. 1 - In England do I need PP for a loft conversion with a road facing roof window? (Rear facing roof window is already in place) 2 - In England do I need PP to insert a new rear-facing window in a bedroom? (I think the answers are probably yes to 1, and yes-but-I-may-get-away-without-it to 2 for PP, and yes to both for Building Regs approval). Cheers. vivienz
We did a loft conversion at our current house and it has a road facing velux. No pp required for the conversion, only building regs. It also has a side dormer and velux on the other side and rear.

This is my understanding too, as below; https://www.planningportal.co.uk/info/200130/common_projects/47/roof

Temp
Just a heads up... Converting a loft turns a two storey house into a three storey. This means building control may require changes on the ground floor, especially if the stairs are open plan. Mostly to do with fire regs. Building control can also have issues with escape windows above a conservatory or similar hazard. eg They rock up and rule that your rear facing window cannot be the escape window so you need another one somewhere.
