Hi all, a quick consensus please ?

I take ownership of my building and plot next Monday, getting "real" at last.

I am trying to decide what of the following is the best option?

1) Have electric disconnected until the build starts, or is planned.

2) Change supplier to one of the only tariffs with no standing charge.

Really the aim is to reduce costs until we need site power, maybe a year from now.

I took possession of the old house and moved it to a minimal tariff whilst we went through planning. Disconnection carried a charge. We went on to a £5 a month direct debit. At the end the supplier refunded the unused portion.

Was worth having electric on the odd occasions we popped in to do some bits e.g. gardening to stop it taking over the neighbours land.

Prior to demolition I had it relocated to the front of the property as a builders supply. If memory serves right this was cheaper than disconnection and reconnection.

+1 to what @ProDavesays. Even the most basic of connection or disconnection costs about £250 down our way and it's much quicker to callca sparky in to hook up a new cable than to wait for the DNO to visit if you needed power on site at short notice.
