A New Laptop - Which One?

Our Timber Frame arrives in January, however the chief buyer (the wife!) has just informed me that her laptop has packed up and  she needs a new one !

 

As I’m a complete numpty when it comes to computers, can anyone suggest a suitable laptop. We won’t be using it for anything too heavy, just surfing the net, buying things online, email, forum browsing etc. Any pointers to cheap Boxingday deals?

Its been dropped rained on and still works fine

Our last 2 have been Acer. SWMBO has the current one, and this is the old one resurected with a new HDD and ubuntu when the original HDD died.

Have had a Lenovo for a couple of years now. No frills and pretty sturdy. As used on the International Space Station!

Mine was £200 from Gigarefurb and it's been one of my better buys.
