dnoble Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 I need to sort this out at some point soon. Is BT/openreach the only option for this, with a long term line rental? Are there better options? I don't really need a landline, just decent speed broadband, via an underground cable. I haven't investigated what is available nearby (south Bristol)
Simplysimon Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 as with, i think, @ProDave we've just got mobile unlimited from 3 and currently getting quite a good speed without the ext. antenna 1
ProDave Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 No not me unfortunately. I wish I could get that all you can eat deal from three, but no signal from there network here, just 2G O2 and vodaphone. So still stuck for the moment tied to a landline. A local commercial offering (thinly disguised as a community led scheme) is now offering wireless broadband, but it would cost us more than BT's phone, broadband and mobile package we have, so at the moment we are ruling it out.
dnoble Posted December 10, 2018 Author Posted December 10, 2018 I wondered if a cable-free solution was feasible. I've got 4 kids who presumably would need to access my mobile data supplied. Do you get some kind off house hotspot with it?
ProDave Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Here is the tread describing setting up that three internet / phone solution
Gone West Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 You could try WiMax if there is a supplier in your area. Then you could still have a local phone number via VoIP in the future if you wanted.
