vivienz
Following on from the insect mesh query, before I put that up I want to do a bit of cosmetic work on the battens that support the parapet capping. These can be seen from the underside and the untreated timber will be visible even through the insect mesh so I want to paint it dark grey. Is there any particular procedure or paint type that I need to use for this? This a photo of the battens as they were being put on and it's the underside ends that can be seen. Ferdinand
Personally I wouldn't paint them. Blowtorch to scorch? Or an external beathable dark stain? I think the stain would last better, and would darken further over time. (test first on an offcut) Edited November 1, 2018 by Ferdinand

lizzie
We used Dulux weathershield had it mixed to ral colour - your grey looks similar to ours. Ours mix was for Ral 7012. We had 7016 on windows etc but roof a lighter grey...lead grey which is 7012. Edited November 1, 2018 by lizzie
