Russell griffiths
Hi I have been doing a bit of reading regarding escape windows can anybody tell me why it says they must have a min height from floor of 800mm surely the lower the cill the easier it is to get out. Is this in line with not having a kid fall out of them??? would fire escape hinges comply if the cill height was lower than 800mm cheers russ. PeterW
There is no minimum for the cill but lower than 800 they have to be toughened or laminated glass. The restriction is on the opening size overall.
Hecateh
My BC said minimum of 1100mm to prevent accidental fall (not necessarily kids) max 1100mm to enable escape.
Ian
@Russell griffiths extract from AD B of the building Regs for England re escape windows: “Note 1: Approved Document K Protection from falling, collision and impact specifies a minimum guarding height of 800mm, except in the case of a window in a roof where the bottom of the opening may be 600mm above the floor.”
