I am looking for a shallowbathroom wall unit of 600-750mm width, 1.8m ish height, and approx 125-150mm depth, in a finish which would be white, metallic, or oak.

It us to go between the door and the whb in the room below, replacing the towel rail. Budget is flexible, but the bathroom is fitted out to be practical rather than luxurious. I need somewhere to keep eg shaving tackle, and other bits and pieces. Will need to give some thought to where the towel goes, however.

Can anyone recommend?

Cheers

Ferdinand

Cut the back off an ikea kitchen wall unit? Cheap enough to experiment on.

I'm planning on buying extra kitchen units for use in the bathrooms - specific bathroom stuff seems to be ridiculously overpriced.

It’s because it’s made of HDF or water resistant chipboard.  This stuff is 3 or 4 times the price of ordinary MDF and the edges are usually acrylic sealed.

You may find ordinary cabinets will blow quite quickly if they are in a warm and humid environment like a bathroom.

First picture is a piece of moisture resistant chipboard from a bathroom cabinet, second is from a kitchen cabinet. You can see the difference in the gaps between the chips and also the density of the material.

Thanks for the comments.

I used an Ikea Lillangen tall, narrow unit, which has worked excellently. Here are before and after pics. £85 plus a bit over £10 for the legs. And the existing towel rail was just cut down. Pics are not colour balanced.

It is actually from the same range as the whb.
