Vijay Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 Is it OK to build blocks off damp proof liquid membrane? I think I was once told it's ok and you throw sand in the second coat of the stuff? Cheers Vijay
Mr Punter Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 As long as it has manufacturers accreditation (BBA etc) for this there is no problem.
PeterW Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 Any reason you want to use this rather than DPC..??? The mortar below needs to be dry so you will be waiting a week before you can paint it on - and the blocks need to be dry too..!
Russell griffiths Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 Basically as you said blind it with sharp sand to make it rough and gritty. It will have better adhesion than some of the nasty pvc damp courses.

I've put DPC under the floor beams but wanted to have another slightly higher up too where the radon/DPM will be. I'm not 100% happy with the DPC under the beams as when moving them into position, there's every chance they may be scratched/scored - so I'd rather be 100% happy. I may use both a normal DPC and liquid
Mr Punter Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 Unless you are building over a swamp you are being paranoid unnecessarily cautious.
