Alexphd1 Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Just looking for a 2nd opinion. We are planning to treat the 18mm wbp plyboard with creosote. Any other paints oil would be a better option? The plyboard will have a 2 inch ventilated gap under and breathable felt with standing seem stainless steel roof above.
PeterW Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 It will stink when it gets warm for years ! why do you want to treat it...?? If its for anti condensation then you would want something acrylic based.
Russell griffiths Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Sorry never heard of this. What for.
Alexphd1 Posted February 13, 2018 Author Posted February 13, 2018 Reason, quick Google on wbp ply and a few comments on not as good as it used to be and little water results in delaminating. I am probably over thinking this.
lizzie Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Please not creosote the smell will be awful can’t you find a better treatment if it needs to be done.
PeterW Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Proper BS STD ply is water and boil proof and will stand a lot of moisture before it delaminates. For something that’s going to be there for decades I’d suggest you go for a decent and stamped / approved board from a reputable supplier. 1
Alexphd1 Posted February 13, 2018 Author Posted February 13, 2018 Boards from TP wether that's a reputable supplier is s different matter!
PeterW Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Is it stamped as certified WBP. ..? Good exterior ply should be marked as BS so check first.
