We need a 1.1m fence on a 8m span. Steep drop other side...

So trying to work out a money saving way to achieve a good fence to stop anyone from going over the top to a steep fall. Thinking wood just not sure how? I presume vertical slats to stop climbing? Has to satisfy building control.

If wood, vertical slates not horizontal. Think stairs balustrade not fence. It also has to satisfy wind load requirements, impacts and not fall over. These requirements change with fall height. Look up balustrade requirements.

Would snag their clothing (and flesh) to stop them falling and they're unlikely to try it again (unless they're a Darwin Award contender).

The front of the house is built on a retaining wall as is my sisters (up to slab level) with a drive in between. So just trying to figure out what would be good. I was thinking a wall of wind turbines would be great lol.
