Hi

Going to be putting electrics into my shed 50m from the house with some solar on the shed.  Electrician has told me 25mm SWA 3 core but does it matter about the cable colours brown / blue/YG or brown black grey

No. The electrician will sheath the cables as required with the appropriate colours when he connects it all up.

That’s going to be expensive.  What are you running down there to need that fat a cable?

I've just spec'd a 16mm for 38m run off a 50a breaker at 32a assumed load (with cable direct buried). Circa 5v drop iirc.

 

25mm is big, but depends on what you're running, and for the above I left headroom over an EV charger to supply power and lighting to a man-shed.

Yes there will be general lighting, power needs, EV charger and 10KW Hybrid invertor with battery storage and future proofed
