Lincolnshire Ian Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Hi We are looking at staircase design and would appreciate some advice. Having used the staircase design tools for Stairbox and TK Stairs I am lacking the confidence to place an order for my stairs with a half landing without visiting a showroom and sitting down with someone who understands this stuff. I understand that Stairbox have a showroom and I'm planning a visit. It seems that TK Stairs don't have a showroom. Are there any other staircase manufacturers with showrooms I could visit? We are in Lincolnshire, but prepared to travel. Thanks
ProDave Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Why not post a screen grab of your on line designs from both companies and your questions? I used stairbox and have stairs with a half landing.
Oz07 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Probably more likely to find a firm with a rep who does site visits than a fixed showroom 1
Bonner Posted February 22 Posted February 22 I used TK, everything done off their design tool with at least 5 revisions. Phoned them a few times, not visited but they might be open for a chat in their office. Who is fitting it for you, probably more important to check the measurements on site.

We've got a trusted joiner who has done a brilliant job so far with cladding, plasterboarding etc who is going to fit the stairs. Having tried the online staircase builders (TK and Stairbox), I've found that I really want to talk to someone face-to-face to discuss tolerances, the spacing between the stringers for a staircase with a half-landing, attachment details for the balustrade to the stringer, etc. The best option I have found so far is Stairbox - they have a showroom attached to their factory and someone available to help with the design. 1
Nickfromwales Posted February 22 Posted February 22 I used Stairparts Direct for a very nice bespoke oak staircase we fitted for a previous client. Worked out very nicely indeed. https://stairpartsdirect.co.uk/ Can't recall if they were the cheapest, but I didn't ask for cheap. The staircase was completely bespoke and they'd not done one like my design before, but were engaging, helpful, and added some great ideas to the mix. 1
Lincolnshire Ian Posted February 24 Author Posted February 24 Just been to Stairbox in Stoke. Long drive, but worth it. Looked at lots of design options in their showroom and an expert on hand to help us design the stairs. We haven't taken delivery yet (two week lead time), but so far so good. 2
Bonner Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Glad you got good advice. We were building through COVID lockdown and it’s after effects. Many times I wanted someone to talk details on site or in a workshop but couldn’t. 1
