Apache Posted yesterday at 00:15 Posted yesterday at 00:15 Hello In the early stages of converting a former railway building into a house in the Yorkshire Dales. We will also have a SIP extension. Trying to do as much as I can myself, but I'll pay some people to do some parts. Would love to be in for Christmas 2027, but no promises! 4

Please post a new thread in the SIP's / timber frame section, and then I can ask you "why SIP's and not TF, or ICF".............

I don't have an answer to your question, so I may not! Was suggested by my architect and seems a simple system to have a structure built quickly that I can slowly finish.....

Good for the soul, bad for the heart pacemaker. Ermmm, BTW , you haven't got a requirement for walk-on glazing have you by any chance? 😑 I'm asking for a friend you see. He got very upset (search on this site for 'walk on' or 'walk-on' or 'walkon') about his walk-on glazing and to cut a very long story short, well errrrm, it's reportedly still in his shed . Poor bloke. With a screename like yours, you aren't a tecchie by any chance? Anyway - welcome

jack Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Just say you want to be in by Christmas, but don't specify which one. Job done. I agree with the SIPS comments by others. Do a bit of research in the relevant forum and you'll see some of the problems people have had with them. 1

Did some reading on that last night and I see some of the issues. Clays at Skipton seem one of the better companies, I hope. Believe their own team assembles. I have machinery on site, other than a crane. Need to find out if my self erected Quicksage scaffold is sufficient or not.

Are there grounds for the OP posting the question: “given the suggestion of SIPs should I trust my architect?” In the appropriate forum. Not that I’m expressing an opinion, mind.
