flanagaj Posted Thursday at 06:39 Posted Thursday at 06:39 I need to order some Paslode nails and am unsure which ones to buy. So I understand that nails exposed to the elements need to be galvanised, but what about ring shank? Am I correct in thinking that unless you need to disassemble the assembly, then ring shank will give a better fixing? So there maybe a small price difference, but does it actually matter which ones you use?
Thorfun Posted Thursday at 07:09 Posted Thursday at 07:09 I don’t know the official answer but we used galvanised rings everywhere iirc. They’re a bugger to remove when you make a mistake but for me that was a good thing as they’re not going anywhere! make sure you get one of these https://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-dwht0-55524-claw-bar-10-/156ky?ref=SFAppShare I used mine a lot!! 1
JohnMo Posted Thursday at 07:41 Posted Thursday at 07:41 If it's for anything structural stuff, your structural drawings notes, should set out the requirements explicitly. How many nails at each junction, type surface finish and length. Your structural notes should have something similar this - if they don't go back to your structural engineer and ask why not! 1
nod Posted Thursday at 07:58 Posted Thursday at 07:58 (edited) The Senco ones are the cheapest and do the same job Edited Thursday at 08:03 by nod 1

I chose the wrong SE (Barrat Associates). When I send full plans to a SE and request a quote for structural design, should I expect them to just provide structural calcs for the steels. That's all I received. There was nothing like the detail you have there.

Without the above you don't have a structural design for the house, just a lump of steel.
