Oceanjules Posted September 24 Posted September 24 Hi, looking for a labour price to replace 8 rotten joists from this decking (please see attached). the joists are not located in one area, it’s pretty much all over the decking. How much would the labour cost be please? thanks
ProDave Posted September 25 Posted September 25 That's not a trivial job, for each joist that needs replacing, you need to remove most of not all the planks that it supports, and if the rotten joists are spread out, you might as well rebuild it completely, otherwise any fix will be short term. If some joists are rotten the rest won't be far behind. 1
JohnMo Posted September 25 Posted September 25 A neighbour of ours had the same issue, the whole lot was skipped in the end and new one built. Further they got into it the more rot they exposed. You also need to find the route cause of the rot, so it doesn't occur again. 1
saveasteading Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Ditto. I ended up ripping it all out. That was easy. Then a rebuild. Once the boards are stripped you'll probably find it's worse than it looks, and repairs would be temporary. What has caused it to rot? Don't rebuild the same way.
