Finally made a start to our project yesterday (mark the date) where trenches have been dug to relocate the existing gas and electricity cables etc - a long time coming after about 4 years of waiting!

Wanted to find a way to view progress on site and do a sort of time lapse video. Looking for any recommendations that people might have used to record the progress. We don't have Wifi on site anymore but there is power obviously through the TBS and the builder is open to having a feed for the camera - although I see that there are battery powered solutions with solar panels that can be totally self contained.

Would like the ability to have constant recording for up to a week when I can go and swap out the SD cards and also the ability to login remotely to see what's happening at any given time.

i used a GoPro 7 in a custom made "birdhouse" with a solar panel, but i was only recording a still every half hour. Lasted my entire build, apart from one week at Christmas were i think it got too cold.

I’m happy with my TAPO cameras but have Wi-Fi , as you said there are solar ones and if you have power this one 4G LTE/PoE Outdoor Pan Tilt Cam, 1080P, Tapo C501GW

Is it straightforward to get a time lapse video from these cameras? I have a Eufy set-up comprising a doorbell, external and internal cameras with events stored on a Eufy Home Base and I could use this kit during my build. I can view events and real time video on my phone and manually screenshot to my phone photo album, but I don't think there is a built-in time lapse possibility.

I think I’ve found the answer to my own question. Some cameras have a time lapse function and some don’t. Most GoPro and Reolink cameras have it but not all. My Eufy one doesn’t.

My two cameras are continuously recording on 512gb card then over recording I can get 3-4 weeks on the card but it also records snap shots of events that trigger the camera so if I get a lot of snapshots then I might only get 2 weeks of continuous recording before it start over recording on the loop.
it’s all easy to access on the app but you would have to down load the recording or probably swap out two cards to give you more time to copy the recording if your busy on the build.

the cameras are good security they track movement of possible humans and cars and in my case although it didn’t track it did record a bat flying around.
and a blue tit and woodpecker who came right in front of the camera to investigate the new wood cladding.
