Gave up on trying to fix the old Electra Elecheib induction hob and bought a Bosch. No problem there. The old hob was fed from a length of 4mm² butyl.

The new Bosch can be fed from one or two phases.

It comes with a length of this cable:

So they are suggesting to use this length of cable for single phase operation and just wire the cables in parallel.

However....up top in the terminal box are two brass links. Doing nothing, just sat in a "made for it" plastic slot. They look to be about 4mm². There is however no reference to them in the manual?

I can see no reason why I can't use the original 4mm² cable and then use the links in the terminal box to link 2+3 and 4+5.

I can't fathom why they include the links but don't mention them?

That looks similar to our Neff (which had a 3 phase wiring option too) I had to use one of the links (single phase bottom pic) plus there was already a link in place.

Pun intended but aren't there links between Neff & Bosch? As in they're the same company? I'd expect parts crossover.

My Russel Hobbs induction hob can also be wired in as, what I think is really called split phase (2 of the 3 phases), but I have it wired in as single phase.

I asked @ProDave to confirm. I did post the question up a few years back.

I have not melted anything yet.

As an aside, I bought some cheap Russell Hobbs kitchen knives, fiver for 3.

They look identical to the ones from ProCook that cost 4 times as much, each.

I can testify how sharp they are.
