nowtie Posted Tuesday at 13:33 Posted Tuesday at 13:33 Hi, I'm in the SW. Just received a quote for the foundations of our 156.5 sqm dwelling and am looking for expert opinions. It seems on the light side and not much detail. What questions should I go back with? Drawings and spec attached 1. Mobilisation of labour , plant and materials to site per rig, per gang. £650.00 2 To construct traditional foundations over a total maximum combined 63m, allowing for a maximum excavation depth of 1500mm from site level, width 600mm and 1000mm depth of concrete. Concrete strength 35N £18,648.00 3 Additional depth if required hr cost +15% Rate only 4 To remove excavated spoil and any waste material off site Item cost +10% Rate only 5 Take and test 3No. Concrete cubes as instructed. £250.00 set Rate only 6 Standing time for reasons beyond our control. £160.00 p/h Rate only Total: £19,298.00 In preparing our quotation we have allowed for approximately 63000mm of traditional foundation. This allows for excavating a maximum depth of 1500mm from site level, 600mm wide and for maximum depth of concrete 1000mm. We have assumed that the following will be provided: Setting out. (We can arrange a Setting Out Engineer at cost if required) Site welfare. (Water, Electric and WC) Removal of excavated spoil off site.
Russell griffiths Posted Tuesday at 17:17 Posted Tuesday at 17:17 What more are you expecting they are quoting to dig a trench 1500mm deep 600mm wide and fill it with concrete, to a depth of 1 m. you are doing the setting out you are paying for muck away concrete cost is about £5000. for a company with its own large excavator and a couple of dumpers it’s 2-3 days work. there’s probably not much detail as they want to get a feel from you first, detailed quotes take time, if their busy they haven’t got the time to mess about until they think your not a time waster.

Plus1 It is what it says on the tin Nice quick job Ask about grading the site Drains Treatment Plant if needed As Russel says Detailed quotes are time consuming Its a start
Bonner Posted yesterday at 07:06 Posted yesterday at 07:06 Much better than I got, simple and straightforward. Sounds like a small business managing their time and risk.
Conor Posted yesterday at 08:53 Posted yesterday at 08:53 You might want to get all the other basic ground works jobs done at the same time. Services, drainage, hardstanding areas, etc. Unless you intend doing those yourself with your own machine?
