SteamyTea Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Yes, a couple of inline Monroe ones. They were dead cheap.

Onoff Posted November 29, 2018 Author Posted November 29, 2018 How easy to recreate the heat exchanger in one of these? Doesn't look a lot in them:
Ed Davies Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Just caught up on this thread. A few posts here are a bit concerned with the conductance (thickness and/or conductivity) of the separator material. My conclusion is that typically the resistance is dominated by the boundary layer resistance so the material doesn't matter all that much: https://edavies.me.uk/2014/03/mhrv-area/ , the hard part is making the area large enough in a compact and cheap way.
Onoff Posted November 25, 2024 Author Posted November 25, 2024 With the 3D printer now, making a "holder" for the drinking straws into which you can pour a sealant should be a doddle.
SteamyTea Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 @Onoff I made an MVHR unit a few years back. I separated the plates with some timber strips with double sided tape on each face. One day I will make the Mk3 version.

Don't think it was doing much in the end as I never put any filters in it. Having said that, the pipe that goes to outside (is that the exhaust, they use odd names on heat exchangers) came loose, some housemartyns started nesting in the hole, and the pipe was dripping water out. Still not painted the ceiling in the spare bedroom (needs at least 5 years to dry properly I think). So it may have been working as condensation was happening.
