Fallingditch
"Can anyone recommend a Thermostatic shower" Yes: Grohe or Hansgrohe. I bought my showers from a couple of different sources. BargainBundlesUK on eBay who could probably supply you with components you need for flush showers eg one like this alternatively, buy direct from Germany. (See other posts). Here's an example of a complete Hansgrohe Croma 100 from Skybad (search SkyBad for other posts re grman suppliers) for about £120. I bought from both these organisations - no problems at all (and the Germans do returns).

Stones
I bought Grohe showers from here: https://www.plumbingforless.co.uk/showers I'm absolutely delighted with them (would even go as far as saying the best showers we have ever had)

Onoff
@nod, hope you don't mind the hijack. Figured I'd add to this given the generic thread title. Need a concealed mixer at the budget end of things. So with the aid of the model, "we" have decided the shower is going on this wall. I was going to have nothing on this wall as it's an outside cavity wall. Was going to pack it with PIR but have been overruled. The shower head is misleading as that'll be mounted on the ceiling. SWMBO wants a riser rail with removable hose / handset. Presumably for "lady" things. Me, happy to stand under and get drenched. So I presume I need a 2-way valve? As in handset or overhead? What's a 3-way then? At the mo however it looks like this: I'm after a concealed mixer not so deep that I can get some insulation behind it and run the feed pipes up, again within the insulated layer. The horizontal studs will get drilled as required to support the down pipes. More timber can go in if needs be. Space wise, between those two studs is 165mm and face of stud to the rough old white wall is only 125mm. Add 12.5mm of Aquapanel and tiles and I've maybe 150mm from face of tiles to wall. Only ever fitted bar mixers. Am I on the right track? Edited January 1, 2018 by Onoff
Nickfromwales
@Onoff I bought these for the last job. One went vertically mounted in the shower, selecting rose or handset, and one horizontally over the bath selecting overflow filler and pull out handset. Excellent flow rates and cheaper than shoplifting. Tres bien. Flow to the relative outlet at each end and temp dial in the middle. Get the round ones or your OCD will take up the rest of your life getting them realigned after each use
Onoff
Cheers, 3 dial, 2 way out of stock!
Onoff
I'm liking this as the levers better match our bath and basin taps (close enough): https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hudson-Reed-Reign-2-Way-Concealed-Thermostatic-Shower-Valve/192028042845?epid=2283077803&hash=item2cb5c3665d:g:45AAAOSw8C9Z30a9 But no instructions ref the "2-way". Made in England apparently. Says 20yr g'tee. Are Hudson Reed any good? Edited January 1, 2018 by Onoff
Nickfromwales
Very good stuff. You'll have no problems with that one ?
Onoff
Just ordered, Hudson Reed: + £126 all in. Going like this, centre knob will be about 1200mm off the deck: Need a rainfall head now and I'm stuck! 200, 300, 400mm? And where to place over a nom 1200 x 1200 wet room area? Dead centre? Missus wants circular rather than square. We both agree we want it ceiling mounted, like a tile rather than on a stalk. I think it needs blue LEDs...
