Compact switch cover?

We have a back box in a tight right angled corner and it looks like I am lacking a couple of mm to be able to screw a cover on it. I could try to trim a cover so it would fit but are there any commercial options for this issue? Maybe a metal flat plate design would be best if I had to grind an edge a little?

What depth is the back box.

 

Is the "cover" you talk about the light switch?  Can you find one that needs less depth (like they all used to when the standard light switch box was 16mm)

Ah sorry @ProDave I am maybe not explaining properly. Its not a depth issue - that is no problem. It is the location of the box which is in a right angle corner. Yes the switch plate I mean. When you put it over the box its holes are about 2mm to the right of the back box holes!

Could you change the backbox and use an architrave switch?

Maybe you could use back box repair lugs (do a search on amazon) rather than a box with integral lugs ?

 

Or maybe try a plasterboard back box with judicious carving of the edges using a stanley knife ?

 

Or try a screwless switch plate where the back plate can be screwed in top and bottom using repair lugs, rather than having to be screwed in left & right ?

 

Or remove the back box, chisel out the hole, reseat the back box 5mm to the side, make good with filler and touch up the wall paint ?

Sorry misunderstood.

 

Choose a flat metal plate screwed switch (not screwless with clip on cover) and carefully file 2mm off one end of the plate until it fits.
