Hi there, in homebase it's closing some bargains....

Saw these for shower and was wondering would they do? They will be supplied from tank in loft. So is it just a matter of the plumber attaching this to the 2 pipes coming out of the wall? £18

They are just shower heads, a pipe and a wall bracket.  There way be a flow restrictor in there somewhere.

Is that a gravity fed system i.e. both hot and cold are supplied from the same feed and expansion tank in the loft?

Yes both tanks are in loft, unsure if gravity, may be pressurised?

Generally, if you can stop the flow from the tap with your thumb, it is gravity fed.

 

The main thing is that the pressure is equal in both the hot and cold, otherwise the one with the higher pressure will force its way up the pipe with the lower pressure.

 

I have a gravity fed system, but have fitted a twin impeller shower pump to improve the flow.  I tried a larger shower head once, but it just allowed more water to flow out but at a slower speed.  Was not as good as the smaller shower head which feels like it has more force.

You'd need a thermostatic mixer valve to connect to the 2 pipes, then this setup pictured receives the output of the valve.

 

This is also only suitable for a concealed arrangement, so a PITA to fit.
