Pocster Posted Tuesday at 21:23 Share Posted Tuesday at 21:23 Only recently . Sounded like bearings going . But now dripping water out of unit and indeed even off the outlet pipes I think . Check drain seems ok . Any advice ? thanks
Pocster Posted Tuesday at 21:25 Author Share Posted Tuesday at 21:25 Even the filters at the top are dripping ! What does that suggest ?
ProDave Posted Tuesday at 21:49 Share Posted Tuesday at 21:49 In cold weather the inlet pipe (inlet from outside to mvhr) will be carrying cold air, if not well insulated you will get condensation on the outside of that.

Yeah - just seems strange after 4 years. I quickly checked in the loft ( paranoid of a leak ) and could see nothing obviously. The unit itself is making very unnatural noises ( I've recorded it - but won't let me upload the file format ). Anyone recommend a MVHR servicing company for SW ? - I emailed a few a week ago ( when the initial strange noises started ) and had no replies..... Roundtuit Posted Tuesday at 22:07 Share Posted Tuesday at 22:07 The only time I've had dripping and funny noises is when the condensate drain was blocked with biofilm snot and water built up to the fan blades. Now temperatures have dropped condensate levels will have increased. Have you checked inside the unit to make sure condensate is flowing away OK? It sounds like the fan is hitting water ( at least that’s the sound too me ) . Previously sounded like bearings failing . I took the drain off - a bit came out ( with bucket underneath expecting flood ) but nothing much . I could take the 4 screws off the front panel - but then I’m in unknown territory!!!! ProDave Posted Tuesday at 22:23 Share Posted Tuesday at 22:23 Can you see if there is anything coming out of the condensate drain? If there is not, see @Roundtuit post above. Go on, turn it off and lift the lid off. You know you want to.

Pocster Posted yesterday at 09:19 Author Share Posted yesterday at 09:19 Covers off exchanger out . theres pooled water but its on the other side i.e not the drain side …
ProDave Posted yesterday at 09:34 Share Posted yesterday at 09:34 Well it should not be there. Empty it out then see if there is a drain channel between the 2 sides that is blocked.

Pocster Posted yesterday at 09:37 Author Share Posted yesterday at 09:37 There seems to be no obvious channel from 1 side to the other!. I must be missing something!!
Pocster Posted yesterday at 09:38 Author Share Posted yesterday at 09:38 That’s the left side I.e drain side . Zero channel to the other side . Almost like it needs 2 drains !!
Pocster Posted yesterday at 09:44 Author Share Posted yesterday at 09:44 There’s a ‘plug’ on the right side - so I could manually drain it …. But I don’t get how it works if water sits there
Roundtuit Posted yesterday at 11:04 Share Posted yesterday at 11:04 Is the unit level? Does it need tilting a fraction toward the drain?
Pocster Posted yesterday at 11:18 Author Share Posted yesterday at 11:18 12 minutes ago, Roundtuit said: Is the unit level? Does it need tilting a fraction toward the drain? Yep . Either side a fan . Below each fan a self contained tank . The only place either can drain is through the plug in the base of their respective tank .This is why I think I might have the drain on the wrong side . But it’s been working perfectly for 4 yrs as is !!
Pocster Posted yesterday at 11:51 Author Share Posted yesterday at 11:51 Left hand config drain on left; right hand config -drain on right. Mines left hand I believe. So drain is the correct side.... Will drain it, clean it and see.

Should only be condensate at the fresh air intake side I think, unless there is anything dripping back from the exhaust where it passes through a cold loft space maybe. I’ve got a warm roof so all pipe work is in that . I’m still confused why both tanks aren’t simply linked and drain to one point . I’ve emailed vent axia too see . Perhaps I’ve just been ‘unlucky ‘ and if regularly serviced would have avoided this …
Pocster Posted yesterday at 13:05 Author Share Posted yesterday at 13:05 To convince myself! - it's a left handed system. I know this because the left filter has dust from inside whilst the right filter has black/pollution from outside. So I guess whats confusing me is why have water in the right side where there is no drain? -

Pocster Posted yesterday at 14:07 Author Share Posted yesterday at 14:07 All back together and seems to be working perfectly. Confused how water accumulated on the right though ….
Pocster Posted yesterday at 14:19 Author Share Posted yesterday at 14:19 Spoke to vent axia - not much help tbh . The water I assume must be from ‘extract from dwelling ‘ . Still confused how this happens ….
Pocster Posted yesterday at 15:39 Author Share Posted yesterday at 15:39 Poor vent axia ! . The ‘technical’ guy is obsessed that as I don’t have a Hepvo valve this is the issue . I’ve tried explaining multiple times that the water is in a section with no valve . He clearly doesn’t get it !
