Fuzzball
Hi there I would love to be able to build a place in the adjacent paddock we have and that's the goal. I have joined to find out more about how it all works, what's possible, how much to get involved, all those sorts of questions. Up front I am discounting living in a caravan for the build duration as that's a lot with a couple of hairy dogs. Right at the start of the journey, got some soil to dig, now what's the best way to go about it?

Iceverge
Knock on the door of a few self builds near you and pick their brains. You'll get some pointers. Have a look at local planning permissions online if you can. It may help suss out the lay of the land.

If it all hinges on getting planning permission on the paddock, then that's the place to start! Or maybe you're further on in the process... what soil do you need to dig?
