stephanh Posted Sunday at 14:10 Share Posted Sunday at 14:10 starting install of Matrix treatment plant. Would like to run armoured cable in same trench as waste pipe to unit (I shall not be connecting anything - electrics are of mystical quality to me) to keep costs/time down. I have looked at calculators and 2.5mm cable comes up. Is this correct??

Is this correct?? it all depends on the power requirements and length of cable afaik. so without that information no one can determine if the calculator you used is correct. what does your sparky say? stephanh Posted yesterday at 08:03 Author Share Posted yesterday at 08:03 Have not found sparks as yet (new to area) so not able to ask The unit is rated 55W/240V and cable length will be 24M
Thorfun Posted yesterday at 09:01 Share Posted yesterday at 09:01 55W is not much. the calculator i use says that 1.5mm is fine so you should be ok with 2.5mm. BUT......i am not an electrician and am not responsible should that be incorrect. there are electricians on this forum ( @ProDave for one) so they might be able to advise better. Nickfromwales Posted yesterday at 09:30 Share Posted yesterday at 09:30 1.5mm would be plenty at such low consumption. 1.5 carries 18amps give or take. You need less than half an amp or so.

Mattg4321
Consider you might want a high level alarm/indicator at house, which would require extra core(s) potentially. Always best to run a duct with a rope through in these situations if you can.

Yes I had an alarm fitted in the pump box but ran another cable (in duct) back to the house so the alarm was in the house (where it could he heard).
