puntloos Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 Council builders just came by and finished my driveway (kerb lowering but they redid most of it). But no note left - what guidance do we have for how long this needs to dry/set? 3 days? 5? week? Depends on how rainy? With a previous (poor) job, I had some paving that when you put your foot on it and twisted, you could easily twist loose stuff 1.5-2 weeks later, but maybe that's normal? Suggestions? When can I drive my car over this? (not to mention: people in spikey high heels?)
ProDave Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 Tarmac you can drive on straight away even if still hot.

Expand It depends on the specification , the wheel size, and what is under it. That is not highway spec, (no big stones) and I would leave it a day at least. Was it hot? that goes hard quickly. If it was cold lay, then On 19/09/2024 at 11:50, ProDave said: Tarmac Expand Macadam implies a design mix of stone, like type 1, Tarmacadam is the same mix glued together by a small amount of bitumen. Very Strong. the stuff in the picture is a thin dressing. Might be ok already , but don't turn the wheels on it while at rest for a while.
Onoff Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 Periodically walk over it then though the house, preferably over a light coloured floor covering. SWMBO's reaction will help you gauge whether it's dry or not. 2 1
