Dan1983
Morning all, Now our house has been completed and funds starting to slowly recover we need to start thinking about a patio. Much like the house build, we have never had this sort of work done so have no real idea of costing! The area is on a slight slope so would need some soil removing to grade the area but this would be minimal. Location is south in Salisbury area Scope will be oak sleeper retaining wall across the back then probably tumbled limestone slabs or something in keeping with a cottage theme as per attached pictures Have also seen some nice concrete slabs but read they don’t tend to retain colour well? Across the back and down the side of the house is estimated at 75m2 Patio coming 4m out from the house (is that an ok width?) Ballpark, slabs and oak sleepers are coming in at £6700 As it stands we have 20k total budget for the work

Plus 1 Even limestone internal floor tiles are bad enough for making
bassanclan
And £55 per sqm just for materials seems very expensive
JamesP
I have just finished laying nearly 100 sqm of outdoor Porcelain tiles, about £54.00 sqm inc vat from Mandarin Stone. They were invoiced and delivered back in May 2022. 4 metre depth should be enough for furniture and table and chairs depending on width.
Dan1983
Thanks all will look into porcelain if I can find something with a stone/ riven type texture? We have limestone on ground floor which has been fine but appreciate porcelain will maybe need less maintenance as not to porous which will be ideal outside

Dan1983
They look nice Buzz, ideally they would need to be riven and tumbled edge to give that proper worn stone effect for us

A lot of porcelain manufacturers advise not to lay in brick bond anymore as the larger format tiles are not exactly flat and bow slightly in middle due to the firing process which leads to tiny lips everywhere which is a trip hazard. When i did ours they were not too bad but still went with contemporary bond to make sure. What grout did you use ? Went for flowpoint which worked out really well, easy to do and quick. Dan1983
Will also bare that in mind as would be after brick bond and probably different size slabs
