NoGearSomeIdea Posted February 6 Share Posted February 6 Hey everyone, Doing a diy heating install for radiator pipes which are gonna be dormant for ages so didn’t really want to leave flux in them for months. Bought a manual press tool and it’s leaving big burrs & slight deformations. Is this normal? Don’t want to do the whole lot and cry when it comes to testing. SimonD Posted February 7 Share Posted February 7 Have you got the correct fittings and jaw combo? Those connections look terrible, I wouldn't want them anywhere near an installation. Maybe better to hire a press fit kit, or even buy and then sell on? £1500 quid now is cheap compared to potentially fixing failed fittings later on down the road. It’s apparently for M Press fittings, and came with a calibration cert that could have been made in MS Word.. https://press-tools.co.uk/product/alpha-jt-1632-manual-crimping-tool-m-profile-kit/ They feel solid enough, wouldn’t be bothered if the fittings weren’t so pricy.
