ToughButterCup
I'm (second) fitting my MVHR next year. And wondering how to sort out the condensate drain . Saw this and thought that a couple of 110 pipes inserted vertically like this would work wouldn't it ? Might this idea (suitably down-sized) be worth running past the BCO ? Does anyone know how much condensate an MVHR system produces?

I've never gotten round to plumbing in my condensate pipe, so it current fills a large plastic lunch box. Only really have condensate when it's cold outside. Normally in winter it's about ~100ml per day. Nothing in summer. I empty it a couple times a week. Edited December 30, 2023 by Conor
ToughButterCup
Goddit, @Conor : some 20 > 10> mm chippings in a meter long 110 pipe, vertically inserted in the ground with rat-proofing wire at the top. Cheers. Ian
Conor
I'm planning similar, straight out the wall, down through a waste pipe in to the ground. Our entire house is backfilled with 25mm stone, one giant soakaway. It's easier than trying to tie it in to the main sewer. No need.
Marvin
It is only the condensate from indoor air, so not corrosive. No more so than the moisture on windows. Ours produces very little Edited December 30, 2023 by Marvin further thoughts
dpmiller
can't you just tee it into something else and fit a dri-trap?
TonyT
Well you can use a 110mm drain pipe with lime chips for a condensate drain for a gas boiler so don’t see why the same wouldn’t work for ASHP
