Roger440
Does this apply to purchases or does it have to be installed by an "approved" grant harvesting company installer? I couldnt see any reference to that?

The installed cost was the same as online would sell to me on a pallet and not be installed, so a bargain anyway.
Russdl
@Roger440 sorry, no idea but @JohnMo’s comment is worth considering.
Susie
They seem to be adding the battery on to what has already been set in place, 2022 for 5 years to 2027 then it reverts to 5%. so it has to be an installation not a diy purchase only. it will hopefully through supply and demand make the batteries cheaper to purchase. Global manufacturing will reduce the price like it did with PV. The UK market will have no real influence on the price. I suspect the VAT reduction will magically vanish and will be touted as a 'discount' by the resellers. (I once worked for a crook who said that I had been given a pay rise because my mortgage payments had reduced, so he did not have to pay me more) Edited December 14, 2023 by SteamyTea

I suspect you are right. So just another wheeze to line the pockets of the "approved" installers. As steamy says, that "discount" will be swalled up by the installers. Meanwhile, im excluded. Russdl
Our Givenergy All in One has been up and running for just over a month now and it’s my new obsession and it’s certainly changed the game for us. If there is no sun forecast for the next day we charge it up on Octopus ‘Go’ between 00:30 and 04:30 at 9p/kWh. If a bit of sun is in the forecast, we don’t. We moved the Sunamp charge period from the off peak time to mid morning where a good chunk of the electricity required to charge is coming from the sun, the remainder from the battery. If heating is required then the Willis heater does that in the off peak period, six nights so far this month. We’re pretty close to being ‘off grid’ now. I charged up last night because of the lousy forecast today but we’re producing 1.5kW at the moment so I probably didn’t need to bother. I’m very pleased with it and even more pleased with the invoice that arrived this morning. £6642.99 compared to the first quote I got of >£11,000 (that one did include VAT though). Bramco
@Russdl you should try to get on the intelligent Oct Go. Then it's 7.14p for 6 hours at night and 15p for export. We actually exported enough yesterday to cover the daily standing charge as well as running the house all day long, oven, washing machine, DHW for showers, heating etc. We went for a Sunsynk system that we self installed 15kWh for £5k. Haven't worried too much about not charging the battery at night, as the export rate is high enough so that on a passable day, we're about break even and on good days we're up in terms of costs. Today however...... 😞 Simon
Russdl
@Bramco I’ll look into that. Thanks 👍🏻
JohnMo
We have had a rubbish day also, solar forecast said 10+kWh generation today, so far 2kWh. Battery only charged to 70% overnight (based on forecast), so likely to use full grid cost at some point today, unless the sun pops it's head out. Bramco
1 minute ago, JohnMo said: solar forecast said 10+kWh generation today Which solar forecast do you use? Tried to get on one that I think is based in Australia but covers the world - but their web site kept taking me round in circles. Found a European one but the forecasts were crap. I use Openweathermap in Nodered to track the high, low, current and wind chill temperatures - I guess I should try to pick out the cloud cover forecast if it's in there. JohnMo
I use the home assistant GivEnergy API, and uses Solcast API. Once you get set up, seems in the general be quite good. But last night it was predicting 10+kWh for today, just now it's predicting 2kWh. So the charge automation is rubbish. GivEnergy API is a bit hit and miss, maybe it's just the time of year is a bit too varied.
