Don’t usually watch these things but thought this was interesting and quite enjoyable to watch. Some dodgey safety practices but I liked the simplicity of construction

Yeah, saw that - was quite impressed with their enthusiasm. Also, a kind of low tech build that didn't need much in the way of special skills.

Every grand design I’ve seen has been a dodgy unsafe site, from mess everywhere, domestic steps on building sites, steels lifted in on rope etc, dodgy scaffolds,  hardly and PPE…..

 

Then they run out of money 3/4 through the build and the next visit it’s finished with so much bling/ unnecessary expenditure

I was very intrigued about the blocks they were using, that seemed to just need what appeared to be expanding foam to "glue" them together. Can't deny the house looked perfectly fine when they were finished and it went up quickly.

Ultra light weight aerated blocks. Usually 600 x 250 x 200 mm. Foam or thin joint mortar for assembly.

 

Why? mortar doesn't set when it's below zero whereas the right foams can. 🙂

That couple may have been very experienced, hard to tell.
