Jilly Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 I want to use some silicone (black or grey) to 'grout' slate tiles as I need it to be removable. Any tips?

What is "it"? The grout or the tiles? Silicone injected between the tiles will be an absolute nightmare to remove! 1
Temp Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Regular grout can be raked out but it's not super easy. There are grout removal tools. I have stone tile hatches over the cisterns in our bathrooms and just left them ungrouted. I suppose I could fill them with a strip of wood and a very thin layer of grout but haven't felt the need. 1
Jilly Posted July 24, 2023 Author Posted July 24, 2023 This is a spot which gets wet, I’m careful but have teenagers visiting soon…
Onoff Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 I "grouted" the tiles on the side of the bath in Forever White silicone. There's removeable panels so on those edges and the fixing holes so I used silicone. The idea I can run a knife through it should I need to remove the panel ever. As I was there anywhere and fed up with tiling / grouting, I just carried on and grouted with silicone. This was 2019 and it still looks good. The Mapei grey silicone hasn't stood up nearly as well as the Forever White: 1 1
