embra
As part of some remodelling work we are removing some existing steel beams, which seem to be in good condition. Which options do we have for recycling? Seems a waste to throw these in the skip... Based in Edinburgh if it matters
MikeGrahamT21
Have a look for a metal recycling centre nearby, they may well even pick them up from you and pay for the weight. If they go in a skip, they'll be recycled anyway, but you won't see any benefit from it money wise. Alternatively, leave them visible to the road side, but don't put on pavement, and i'm sure a scrap man will come along and snap them up. Which ever way you get rid of them, they will be recycled. saveasteading
If your skip company is remotely into optimising the waste, they will recycle it. Phone them, they may knock a few £ off. If you take it to a scrap yard you will get a few £. Or to recycling centre and the council will take and segregate it. If using a builder, they will take it. Or put it on top of the skip and it will disappear. Rest assured, it will not go to landfill.
Conor
We found a guy on Facebook that we just call each time and he collects up all our scrap metal. Doesn't pay us, but saves us the bother of having to gather the stuff up and get rid of it. Time is money. He does this in his own time after work for extra cash, and I'm happy to give him the business.

Mike
I put a couple of old steel lintels on eBay for £1 a few years ago - they went for £1 after a few weeks. Could be worth a try.
