Super_Paulie Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 Best practice, just lay water pipes on the soil from A-B or clip them to the underside of the joists? Seems a lot of effort for long runs...
TonyT Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 Clip the pipe, cable everything, laying on the ground is a bodge.

When you say cable everything, what do you mean exactly? I could all use round band instead of clips, need to see how much room I have to swing a hammer.
TonyT Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 Sorry Meant pipes and cables all really designed to be clipped to a surface/supported at regular intervals depending on the diameter/material in question. all round band is a good choice when a clip isn’t easy to fit 1
Oz07 Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 Depends on invert level surely? If existing low enough then a trench out the ground with the correct amount of pea gravel under and around. It's what happens under a block and beam

But this is in my extension and it's a concrete subfloor, void then joists. I've enough room to get my impact in so I'll clip to the underside, seems fair.
Oz07 Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 Yeh ive done that before with void above concrete oversite. Sounds good 1
Super_Paulie Posted June 11, 2023 Author Posted June 11, 2023 Thanks gents. The job is done. Combination of band and clips got me from A-B. The house was all just slung on the dirt originally, didn't think it was a classy way of doing business.
Dave Jones Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 when you say water pipe do you mean mains? Should remain 750mm below ground then insulated where it comes up into the house. our water board inspect and wouldn't entertain any above ground clipping.

That's happily buried in the garden 👍. It was domestic water lines I was on about, under my joists.
