Muck Munchers and Sewage Treatment Plant

Hi

 

I have read abit about these on here.  Are they suitable for a STP?  Does anyone recommend them?  Any advice on using them?  Thank you.

I am not sure what your question is, buy my recommendation is choose one of the treatment plants that work with an air blower, and avoid the ones that have moving mechanical parts down in the smelly stuff.

By muck munchers I am guessing you mean a macerater and pump like Saniflo.

If so,  then yes, they are fine for feeding to the stp. In fact they have turned the contents to soup and treatment will be all the quicker.

I believe they are good bacteria that you flush down the loo every month  so to promote good bacteria?  I just wondered if anyone on here had used them. 😆

The answer might depend on what problem you are trying to solve?
 

Personally I have used them for about 3 months (so starter  dose plus 2 monthly doses) with the hope they would reduce the % solids in my STP and they don’t appear to have made any difference. Note that the STP was and is working fine anyway - I just wanted to see if they would extend interval between pumping which they claim to be able to do. Maybe 3 months is not long enough and maybe if %solids is already high then they can’t be expected to make inroads in that  situation, so the jury is out atm.

Now that I know that you mean a packet of bacteria I can answer again.

 

I have put in I think 3 STPs and had no negative feedback from the clients.

The manufacturers don't seem to insist on them either.

 

A bag (or bottle) of it won't do any harm, especially at the start , to kick it off, because it won't get properly festering for a week or so.

But I don't think you need anything.
