Timber sash cost increases

Mumford & Wood have come highly recommended by two builders but our quote has increased by nearly 20% for the same products in the last six months. Obviously we were expecting price fluctuations, but this seems excessive. Does anyone else have this experience? I'm clearly going to have to start shopping around again so would be grateful for any alternative companies that specialise in traditional timber sash windows.

Timber prices in general have come down 

But other costs have gone up I can only think there order books are still full

 

We have gone from chasing quotes 

To being bombarded with calls from reps 

This week alone we’ve had visits from two Ally window manufacturers and a UFH company All offering discounts 

and we are on a country road So not on the beaten track 

 

As I’ve said previously you need to shop around 

Companies Including mine have had a bonanza over the last three years

I don’t know about them but we were told Nordan were increasing their prices by over 20% in February. We placed our order last week.

Nordan must have a queue of people willing to pay them prices to consider putting them up. All commodities and energy prices are on their way down yet some suppliers are still increasing prices on top of an already inflated price. Hopefully competition will return to the window market, I’m just about to start getting quotes. Not looking forward to seeing them. Hopefully someone might surprise me

I’ve had several suppliers say they’re putting prices up this year. They delayed as much as they could last year. Now it might be a ploy to get me to sign up with them of course. I’m still being told that folk are mega busy. No one has stopped by my plot looking for work that’s for sure. Maybe I need to wear tighter workwear.

I visited a site yesterday and was very impressed with the windows that were nearly half the price of the next nearest bidder. They were wooden sash windows and very sleek and well finished. I'm not sure if I can put the company up on here or not so will send in a direct message. If an admin says its ok I will post the details here for others to see.

Well there's a couple of other suppliers mentioned in the thread so far, and I, for one, would be interested to know who these great suppliers are.
