Stupid question for boarding out bathrooms / tiling

I am planning to board out my bathrooms in moisture resistant plasterboard and use tile backer board behind the showers.

The thing is that the walls of these rooms are going to be tiled.

Should I be using MR plasterboard where its going to be tiled on the walls or do I need to use tile backer board on walls (stud and masonry)

I used a combination. Tile backer boards for the wet room corner and behind the loo, then mrpb everywhere else. Helps they're both 12.5mm thick.

It was all tanked:

The someone made a hash of the tiling, letting down what would have otherwise been a fantastic job 😤

I’ve only ever used MR PB, tanking the wet areas meticulously and sealing with CT1 where necessary. I’ve got a lot of 1st floor wetrooms under my belt, and still have the same mobile number, and nobody’s ever rung me to say they’ve got a leak ( or that any tiles have fallen off ;) ).

Thanks guys, what do you tank with?

I am using shower trays and my plan is to that the tile backer board to go all the way to the floor behind the tray, but the tiles to sit above the tray.

The “cheap” kits are fine. Aquaseal / Mapei etc.

Have a proper read of this thread. You may need to make a sandwich first and settle in.

Moister boards are fine on any tiled areas Even wet rooms

What a lot of people don’t seem to grasp is If water gets through to the boards or backer They need stripping off

Gyprock yellow backers perform the best and can be cut with a Stanley knife
