Bathroom Air Vents

Hi folks,

 

I am looking for some help regarding the air vents in my bathrooms which are letting cold air in, what solutions is there to make this less draughty?

 

The fans vent out via the roof, have crappy looking white flexi pipe going from bathroom ceiling to the roof via the loft.

If you have access to the ducting in the loft then you could fit an in-line backdraft shutter. They have a flap (either spring loaded or gravity operated) that opens when the fan is blowing air out but resists airflow in the other direction.

Or an expensive fan with a backdraft shutter as part of the design, vent axia do them. Can’t remember make and model.

We had this is in the last house, depending on how much Hair Spray and Antiperspirant You/Partner use it does need a regular clean, as indeed all bathroom fans do.  

Probably not fully fully airtight, but a lot better than nothing and easy to install.

Or would a dMEV fan be better option.  A slow trickle all the time, no reverse flow at any time and almost silent.

May be of use. The in-line shutters are audible when it's windy (they don't stop hot air being sucked out), even when fitted close to the roof outlet. I would say subjectively though that they are effective, so have left mine in for now.
