puntloos
Just looking over my final design I was wondering if there are any "rules of thumb" for how many glass panels one uses to fill an entire window? Case in point I have a 2.4m wide "hole' for a window, should I put 3 panels (0.8m/panel) or 4 panels (0.6m/panel) in such gaps? 4 feels somewhat more privacy-positive but 3 might be a bit better thermals, and might look a bit more fancy? How to decide?
bassanclan
Depends on the rest of the house. 4 would look more "normal" mass building sites have windows in 600mm increments but if you have large, 800mm windows elsewhere it makes sense to follow that pattern
craig
Fixed/openable or mixture of both? You can get 2.4m single pane no problem but if openable and supplier dependant. You could have 2 both openable or 1 fixed 1 openable or 3 with fixed middle, openable either side. You could go 4 if you wished. One thing to consider is whether your supplier can achieve this in one frame or if they need to couple different units together which does bulk up the frame. As @bassanclansays though, try follow the design of other unit sizes. Edited November 21, 2022 by craig
ProDave
All ours are 900 wide panes and they work well, so would be 3 for your window.
