jen and mark
Hi guys, Could anyone recommend a good taping and filling product for plasterboard? I was thinking of using Gyproc joint filler and Gyproc Easi-Fill 60 however the knauf joint filler is half the price! Any hints and tips would be gratefully received! nod
Easi fill is no good for jointing and would work out expensive You need joint filler for the tape Then Gyprock joint cement for the next two coats Once mixed the joint cement will last for days if you cover the top of the bucket
jen and mark
Cheers @nod. Just to confirm - Gyproc joint filler for the tape then 2 coats of Gyproc joint cement instead of 2 coats of Gyproc easi fill 60. Is Gyproc a better finish - Knauf Premium Joint Cement seems much cheaper, but is it any good?
Nickfromwales
Easifill is a finisher. The bulk of the work, including bedding in the tapes, needs the joint filler Get that as flat and smooth as possible and use Easifill to complete, sanding and adding more as required. Easifill goes off much quicker, so only mix up what you can use, making bigger mixes as you get used to using it / workable “open” time.

JohnMo
My house was done with Knauf, the guy doing it told me to buy that, as he had used everything else and liked that best.

jen and mark
When dry, what do you recommend for sealing the PB prior to painting? mist coat? PVA? expensive primer?

PVA? expensive primer? None of those things! High opacity Matt white emulsion, a couple of coats, and then sand that down to a finish.
