CalvinHobbes
The architect has put in a zinc roof and cladding around the 1st floor. A builder who hasn't given me a quote yet did a lot of huffing and puffing, shaking his head and fixing me with a somber look....it's gonna be very expensive, you will need specialised contractors to put it on too. Sheesh, another builder who I know spent years doing roofing (and has a great reputation) is also preparing a quote. I hope he isn't as dramatic. As a fallback, any other options than zinc? nod
Not dramatic More like realistic Zinc roofs and cladding was expensive before But like most metals has soared in cost Perhaps worth having a plan B Your Architecht should be able to to give you a rough idea of cost Edited October 6, 2022 by nod

Ferdinand
Zinc always makes me think of Edward Lear - Z was once a piece of Zinc. Yes there alternatives, including Alu or Steel, and there are systems which I think have been used by one or two here, if you look. Apologies if you have already done all this. eg Some conversation in the comments on this post by @AliMcLeod: Ferdinand
